Cinnaminson, New Jersey

Cinnaminson is a Township in Burlington County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township’s population was 15,569, reflecting an increase of 932 (+6.3%) from the 14,637 counted in the 2000 Census, which had, in turn, increased by 1,425 (+10.8%) from the 13,212 counted in the 1990 Census. The Lenni-Lenape Native Americans were the first people to live in the Cinnaminson area. They were peaceful people who farmed, hunted, and fished. They were also known for their beautiful pottery. Information can be found here. The first European settlers to the area were Quakers, who came in 1688. They settled along the Delaware River in an area that is now known as Riverton. Cinnaminson was originally part of Willingboro Township, which was founded in 1688. In 1722, Cinnaminson was incorporated as a separate township. Cinnaminson is a largely suburban community with a mix of residential and commercial development. There are several parks and recreation facilities in the township, as well as a variety of shopping malls and plazas. Cinnaminson is a mainly residential community with a retail and service sector located along the King’s Highway (US 130) corridor. It has a total area of 8. m square miles (21 km2) (land and water inclusive), making it the township with the ninth-largest land area in Burlington County. The town includes several small lakes, the largest of which are Mullen’s Millpond, Nopke’s Pond, and Moore’s Pond. The township is served by the Cinnaminson Public Schools. Students in public school for grades K-8 attend the Cinnaminson School District, which operates three schools: Barclay G. Wollaston School (grades K-2), William P. Tatem Elementary School (grades 3-5), and Cinnaminson Middle School (grades 6-8). Cinnaminson High School is part of the Moorestown School District and serves students in grades 9-12. There are also a number of private schools in the township, including Our Lady of Good Counsel School ( grades K-8) and Delran Township School District’s Delran High School (grades 9-12). The township is named for John Cinnaminson, an early Quaker settler who owned 500 acres (2.0 km2) of land in the area. Cinnaminson was incorporated as a township by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 10, 1860, from portions of Delaware Township (now Cherry Hill Township), Newton Township, and Southampton Township.
