The first thing you'll notice when you visit the Aquarium is its modern building, designed by the Hillier Group. The structure was made of cast concrete and featured large glass facades. The dome on top was made of white fabric, and the aquarium cost $52 million to build. It opened on February 29, 1992, and welcomed 1.6 million visitors in its first year. Although it has received mixed reviews, the building's design and the resulting theme park are worth a visit.
The Aquarium is open seven days a week, except on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. The temperature feels 77 degrees, with humidity around eighty percent. The Aquarium also hosts daily feedings of seals, sharks, and penguins. The Adventure Aquarium is an excellent choice if you are a fan of animals.
